Face Halo unveils clothing line starring upcycled makeup remover pads

Sustainable beauty brand Face Halo is pushing its eco-credentials to new heights with the launch of Modern Merch – a new streetwear label created using upcycled Face Halos.

Since their launch in 2017, the reusable Face Halo make-up removing pads have already contributed to more than one billion makeup wipes being saved from landfill.

Featuring ‘HaloTech’ fiber strands, the pads reach into pores and remove makeup with the use of water alone.

Pads can be washed in the machine up to 200 times before needing to be replaced.

The launch of Modern Merch has been designed to close the manufacturing loop, giving used Face Halo wipes a fresh lease of life as the centre-pieces of the new upcycled and hand-stitched clothing range.

The Modern Merch range is split into two collections: The OG, which features upcycled shorts, sleeveless vests, and t-shirts and the Limited Edition, which features custom-made and more intricate pieces such as shoes, tracksuit bottoms and jumpers.

Face Halo co-founder Lizzy Pike said: “A lot of people talk about upcycling but the best thing about this development is that it’s so visual.

“It’s a really powerful story that combines beauty and fashion and shows very clearly just how amazing upcycling can be.

“Research that we commissioned last year shows that 34% of women want to make eco-friendly purchases more mindfully.

“We see the same challenges in fast fashion as we do in beauty, consumers are trapped in this continual purchase cycle.

“We want to bring the expertise we’ve gained through the production of the Face Halo to create pieces that are timeless, durable and wardrobe staples.

“We want to encourage people to buy less and buy better.”

Customers are being encouraged to return their used, but clean and dry, Face Halos to the company by post, before they are fully sanitised and re-purposed into the Modern Merch range.

 “Our customers are really loyal and many have been returning their used Face Halos to us since we first launched, but we are hoping that the creation Modern Merch will really inspire even more of them to do so.

“It’s a small drop at the moment but we’re really hoping for it to grow in 2021,” Pike added.
